1. 2. NEXUSPLUS is set to increase the active collaboration between individuals in NMS and ACC (i.e.Eastern) and Western organisations by initiating a call for “East-West Mini-projects”. These projects are designed to promote people working together without the normal contractual overhead, with the hope of future longer-term collaborations. The expectation is that the vast majority of the funding will be made available to Eastern partners with Western partners only receiving travel costs. However, where the proposal requires other arrangements, these will be considered. The proposals will be evaluated by the NEXUSPLUS Management Committee that includes an EC representative. The results of the first evaluations and funding will be made available on the 1 st October 2005, directly to the candidates, through the NEXUS website and the the NEXUS e-zine. 3. Third Summerschool in Bremen, 30 July 2005 –5 August 2005: “Biosensing with channels: faster, smaller, smarter” About 40 speakers will introduce recent developments in the field of electrophysiology: detecting analytes, characterizing molecular interactions, sequencing DNA, monitoring protein folding, microfluidic devices for high throughput detection, drug screening, artificial nanometer-sized pores in solid materials or nanoelectronics. On Friday August 5th a special workshop will focus on possible industrial applications. The 3rd International Summerschool at IUB is sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation. 4. The 28 th edition of the International Semiconductor Conference (CAS 2005) will be held between 2 nd of October and 4 th of October 2005 under the aegis of the IEEE-Electron Devices Society, Ministry for Education and Research, Romanian Academy, IEEE-Romania Section and Electron Devices Chapter. The main topics are: Nanoscience and nanoengineering; Microoptics and microphotonics;Micromachined devices and circuits for microwave and millimeter wave applications; Micro and nanotechnologies for transducers, interfaces and microsystems; Micro and nanotechnologies for biomedical and environmental applications; Novel materials and intelligent materials; Power devices and microelectronics (including CAD); Two important events, in connection with CAS, will precede the conference: 5. First European-Latin American Workshop on Europe - Latin America Cooperation on Circuits and Systems Design, Design Automation and Test, EURO-LAT 2005 , September 16 th , 2005- Grenoble, FRANCE The aim of the EURO-LAT Workshop is to bring together the scientists and research teams that are interested in fostering new collaboration or have been collaborating in the fields of Circuits and Systems Design, Design Automation and Test in joint projects with active European and Latin American participation. The themes to be focused are closely related to those of ESSCIRC. 6. ASYNC 2006 12 th IEEE International Symposium on Asynchronous Circuits and Systems, March 13 rd -15 th, 2006, Grenoble, France Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: |
